Organisational Leadership
  • EGM of the Australian Live Music Business Council since Jan 2024, stabilising the organisation financially and building participation, membership and engagement across the continent

Has led literally thousands of events, projects, from small community gatherings to major conferences including:

  • BIGSOUND Music Industry Conference 2005 including first artist showcase and first group of international speakers
  • ALMBC BIGSOUND events 2025 (including public forums & artist performances), 2024 including public forums
  • ALMBC forums (in-person, online and hybrid sessions) across the continent
  • 2024-26 – Warrnambool Victoria Live Music Policy, showcased in Music Australia’s Bassline Report 2026 and through incredible new website Creative Warrnambool
  • 2025-26 – Manningham Victoria Live Music Policy
  • 2025 – ongoing – Burwood NSW Live Music Policy
  • 2024-2025 – Port Hedland WA Live Music Policy which created a review of live music in the region and supported the development of the Port Hedland Live Music Association group

  • Invited to present publicly at Federal Parliamentary Inquiry into Small Business Insurance – Monday 15 June 2026 following a joint submission including all key national music industry organisations, led by the ALMBC
  • NSW Parliamentary Inquiry Into Live Music – Tuesday 16 June 2026 following written submission
    Submission to the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Economics inquiry into the Competition and Consumer Amendment (Unfair Trading Practices) Bill 2026.
  • Response to Draft Federal Legislation to improve consumer protections from Unfair Practices

Funding

  • $8.6 million in the Federal Revive Live grants program in the 2025–26 Budget (2024) following ongoing public ALMBC statements
    Overseas-owned businesses removed from Revive Live funding following ongoing public ALMBC statements and submissions, leading to major increase in regional and remote venues and festivals funded (2024)
  • Operational funding for ALMBC from Music Australia plus funds to send members to attend international music conferences (2024/5)

 

Grass Roots Live Music Venues

  • Arena Ticket Levy backed by Federal Inquiry following ongoing public ALMBC statements and submissions (2024)
  • Led national discussion on venue ownership models
  • Partnered with emergency meeting on Sunshine Coast after venue closures
  • Publicly backed advocacy campaigns led by live music venues

 

Ticketing

  • Federal government backs ALMBC’s stance hidden ticket fees and dodgy consumer practices illegal (2025)
    Numerous formal submissions to federal government on unfair ticketing laws (ongoing)
  • Maintained public stance on surge pricing and hidden costs (ongoing)
    Fair Trading
  • Numerous submissions to federal government leading to federal government consultation on better protections for small business against unfair trading (2025)

 

Live Music Precincts

  • Leading the sustained advocacy for national implementation of Special Entertainment Precincts (ongoing)
    Early submission to Victorian government’s live music & noise review, focussing on Special Entertainment Precincts, with ALMBC’s stance aligning very closely with Music Victoria (2026)
  • Worked with Yarra Council in Melbourne for several years to get Live Music Precincts formally created across iconic strips like Brunswick Street, Smith Street, Johnston Street, and around Richmond Station — protecting venues like The Tote, The Corner Hotel, The Night Cat and many others (2022-2026)

 

Insurance

  • Leading the national music industry response (ongoing)
  • Led the development of a Joint National Submission to the federal government Insurance for Small Business Inquiry (2026)
  • Launched national report in partnership with Insurance Council of Australia (2025)
  • Led national forums & formal national submissions

 

National Cultural Policy

  • Submission to the 2026 Cultural Policy review
  • Submission to policy update with substantial uptake of recommendations (2023)
